Robert Beltran, who played Chakotay on Star Trek: Voyager and currently appears in the new series Star Trek: Discovery, will be a guest star in season 2 of Star Trek: Prodigy.

The cast of “Star Trek: Voyager” is reuniting in a big way. Jeri Ryan’s portrayal as Seven of Nine in “Star Trek: Picard” was the start of it all. Kate Mulgrew confirmed in October 2020 that she would reprise her role as Captain Kathryn Janeway in the new animated Trek series “Star Trek: Prodigy.” Robert Duncan McNeill will return to the Trekverse as Lieutenant Tom Paris in the second season of “Star Trek: Lower Decks,” according to a teaser released in August 2020.
Despite the fact that Janeway is a hologram and Paris is a hallucination brought on by a commemorative plate, their reappearance is the first time fans have seen these “Voyager” cast members in over 20 years.
Another “Voyager” actor announced their return to the Trekverse at the Star Trek Las Vegas event in August.
“Star Trek: Prodigy” will include Robert Beltran.
The official “Star Trek” conference in Las Vegas, which took place from August 11 to August 15, 2021, included all of “Star Trek’s” greatest stars. Of course, there were a slew of big announcements regarding the Trekverse’s future during the convention, one of which was the news that Robert Beltran would star with Mulgrew in “Prodigy.”
Beltran, who portrayed Commander Chakotay on “Voyager” for all seven seasons, made the news during the convention during the “Voyager” panel. He didn’t provide any more information regarding his involvement in “Prodigy.” He just stated that he had just finished recording his voice for the program.
It’s reasonable to assume that he’ll reprise his role as Chakotay. The setting for the motley band of adolescent rebels meeting Chakotay, on the other hand, isn’t simple. The Delta Quadrant is the setting for the program. Given how far away the Delta Quadrant is, it’s unlikely that any of the crew members of the “Voyager” wound up there. As a result, it’s doubtful that the crew will run across Chakotay himself on their journey.
Janeway appears as a hologram of herself, rather than herself. As a result, Chakotay might be a training hologram aboard the ship the teens discover.
Beltran may possibly be bringing to life a whole new persona. Fans will have to wait and see what happens!
A Prolonged Wait
Mulgrew said in a video chat with a fan in January 2021 that she was looking forward to working on the second season of “Prodigy.” That video conversation was uploaded to Twitter by a fan, but it has already been removed. The original tweet, however, can still be seen in Heavy’s coverage of the revelation.
Mulgrew’s gaffe was the first indication that “Prodigy” would be renewed for a second season. The order for a second season has yet to be announced by Paramount+.
Beltran will not appear in the first season of “Prodigy,” which is scheduled to premiere in the autumn of 2021, despite his statement that he has been doing voice work for the program lately. As a result, it seems like he will appear in the show’s second season. There’s no way of knowing how long it will be until fans see Beltran again in the Trekverse since the second season hasn’t yet been formally confirmed.
His return, on the other hand, is something Trekkers can anticipate!
