Kyrie Irving and LeBron James have been the two best players in the Eastern Conference for a few years now, but the latter has always had an edge over his former teammate. It’s not just about talent, though — it’s also about who they play against.
The types of kryptonite is a term used to describe what will kill or weaken Superman. Kryptonite has been the biggest problem for the Brooklyn Nets this season, as Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant have both struggled against LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony.
Because they have the most skilled group in the league, the Brooklyn Nets are projected to reach the NBA Finals to represent the East this year. If Harden and Irving hadn’t been injured, the Nets would have already been NBA champs. Regardless, they’ll be back next year with a vengeance.
Each of the players in Brooklyn’s starting lineup has been an All-Star and a franchise player at some time in their careers. However, this does not imply that they were invincible in the past or present. It’s time to find out which Nets starters have the worst career record versus each opponent (minimum of 10 games played against each opponent), taking regular-season and postseason matches into consideration.
Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving are all excellent players, but they have all lost to guys who are their “Kryptonites.” The following is the Nets starters’ and 6th man’s record versus their greatest opponents on the floor.
Kyrie Irving has a 3-10 record against LeBron James.
Kyrie Irving and LeBron James, former colleagues, have had some intriguing fights against one other. After winning the 2016 NBA title, Kyrie and LeBron will forever be connected, thus witnessing how the latter triumphs in matches against one other is only appropriate.
LeBron played at his typical superstar level versus Irving, averaging 26.2 points per game, 8.2 rebounds per game, and 8.2 assists per game. The King was also a little sloppy with the ball, turning it over 3.2 times in 13 games. However, it is obvious that LeBron had more success versus Kyrie than Irving had against The King, as he won 10 of the 13 games. In these games, Irving’s average of 18.7 points per game pales in contrast to LeBron’s output.
Andre Iguodala vs. James Harden 14-30 Record
James Harden is one of the greatest isolation scorers in NBA history, and it’s difficult to keep up with him when he’s on a roll. Because Andre Iguodala was a member of the Golden State Warriors’ great squad, the Beard has had limited success against him.
Harden has averaged 25.8 points per game, 6.2 rebounds per game, and 6.4 assists per game, including a 45-point win against Iguodala and the Warriors. Harden was clearly the superior player in these matchups versus Iguodala (11.1 points per game and 4.7 rebounds per game), but the latter had the final laugh by winning the Finals MVP to Harden’s nil.
Kevin Durant has a 4-13 record against Carmelo Anthony.
Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony are two of the best scoring forwards in NBA history, yet they both approach the game differently. Durant’s length allows him to shoot above opponents and is an excellent three-point shooter, while Anthony’s power allows him to score inside from post-ups.
Kevin Durant has been on the losing end of fights with Carmelo Anthony throughout his career. Durant averages 28.2 points per game and 6.7 rebounds per game, while Anthony averages 25.0 points per game and 6.4 rebounds per game. Durant has a career high of 41 points versus Anthony, while Carmelo has a career best of 38 points against him. When Durant was in Oklahoma City, Anthony won the majority of his games with Denver and New York.
1-12 Record of Blake Griffin vs. Al Horford
Blake Griffin is beyond his peak and is now relegated to the position of supporting actor, although he was an All-Star earlier in his career. Even in his peak, Griffin struggled against skilled defenders who restricted Blake’s room around the basket.
Griffin failed to win games against Al Horford, despite averaging 20.8 points per game and 8.8 rebounds per game, compared to Horford’s 12.8 points per game and 8.2 rebounds per game. Horford, mostly as a member of the Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics, appeared to offset Griffin’s influence enough to win games.
DeAndre Jordan vs. Joel Embiid: DeAndre Jordan vs. Joel Embiid: DeAndre Jordan vs. Joel Emb
DeAndre Jordan, while being one of the greatest defensive centers in the NBA in his peak, can be an offensive liability. Jordan only managed 8.3 points per game and 10.8 rebounds per game versus Embiid, his greatest nemesis.
Embiid averaged 30.4 points per game, 13.5 rebounds per game, and 1.4 blocks per game. Even Jordan’s defensive skills couldn’t stop Embiid, who is typically unbeatable against most centers. Although Jordan had a career best of 21 rebounds, Embiid had a career high of 39 points.
Norman Powell vs. Joe Harris 0-16 Record
Joe Harris is one of the NBA’s greatest three-point shooters, shooting 43.8 percent from beyond the arc in his career. During this year’s playoffs, that percentage dropped to 40.2 percent, and he missed a lot of shots he should have made. Harris, on the other hand, has had issues with Norman Powell throughout his career.
Powell is a great defender who can also shoot the three, averaging 37.7% from beyond the arc. Powell is a far superior defender than Harris, and he contributed enough to his team’s victory against the sniper. Harris had a dreadful 0-16 record against the 6’3″ defender as a member of the Cavaliers and Nets.
The Los Angeles Lakers’ Deadliest Kryptonite: LeBron James is 8-17 against Danny Green, while Anthony Davis is 2-25 against Stephen Curry.
The Golden State Warriors’ Deadliest Kryptonite: Derek Fisher has a perfect 9-0 record against Stephen Curry.
Each NBA franchise has won a championship 11 times in total. Refrain from wearing rings.
The Last 15 Finals MVPs: Giannis Antetokounmpo And LeBron James Were Unstoppable
NBA Players Who Turned Down Big Contracts And Regretted It: Nerlens Noel, Victor Oladipo, and Latrell Sprewell may all be joined by Dennis Schroder.
